Cryotherapy Open House | Thursday, November 8th from 6:30pm to 8pm

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) is a natural and innovative approach to recovery, wellness, and pain management. WBC utilizes liquid nitrogen to create an extreme cold environment (as low as -230°F) for 2-3 minute treatments to promote faster recovery and reduce inflammation associated with either acute or chronic pain. These extreme cold temperatures stimulate skin sensors to activate a central nervous system response using a release of endorphins, which are the body’s natural pain inhibitors and mood elevators. WBC also enhances blood and lymphatic circulation to decrease inflammation by clearing toxins and metabolic waste with a supply of oxygen and nutrient enriched blood to stimulate cellular regeneration throughout the body. Some of the most common benefits of WBC include:

  • Decreased pain
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Increased energy
  • Decreased muscle spasms
  • Higher pain tolerance
  • Enhanced circulatory and lymphatic function
  • Arthritic and chronic pain reduction
  • Reduced need for pain medication
  • Improved sleep and
  • Weight loss.

WBC is now commonly used in the professional sports and fitness realm, essentially becoming a more effective and efficient replacement for ice baths. Since WBC utilizes liquid nitrogen in a gaseous state and treatments are only 2-3 minutes long, it is much more bearable than getting in a wet ice bath and gets much colder thus providing greater relief. WBC is not just for athletes, however, as studies and anecdotal evidence have also shown WBC to be effective in reducing chronic and arthritic pain, nerve pain, and post-surgical pain and inflammation. During a cryotherapy session, the client will step into the chamber and their whole body will be enclosed with their head above the gas filled chamber. An operator will be with the client throughout the duration of the session to ensure safety and monitor heart rate and blood oxygen levels through a pulse oximeter clipped to the right ear lobe.

CrossRoads Cryotherapy was started by physical therapists Aaron Kovach DPT, PT and Tim Parnell MSPT, ATC, and is the first Whole Body Cryotherapy center in the area.
